Taylor Swift was announced as Time’s Person of the Year for 2023 on Wednesday.

“Swift’s accomplishments as an artist—culturally, critically, and commercially—are so legion that to recount them seems almost beside the point,” the article stated.

“But this year, something shifted. To discuss her movements felt like discussing politics or the weather—a language spoken so widely it needed no context. She became the main character of the world.”

Swift embarked on her Eras Tour — which kicked off in Glendale, Ariz.  — and began dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce in 2023.

The publication for more than 90 years “has named the person who has had the greatest influence on the world that year—a designation that has become one of the most anticipated and debated global media events of the year.”
